Lakewood Ranch attracts an active, health-conscious population, and the fitness and wellness infrastructure reflects it. From major gym chains and boutique studios to country club fitness centers and outdoor recreation, there's no shortage of ways to stay active here. Here's the landscape.
Major Gyms and Fitness Centers
LA Fitness, Crunch Fitness, and Anytime Fitness all have locations serving the Lakewood Ranch area, offering standard gym amenities at standard gym prices. The YMCA Lakewood Ranch Branch provides a community-focused option with pools, group classes, youth programs, and family memberships. For those who prefer boutique-style training, The Exercise Coach and LFT Gym offer personalized and small-group formats.
Life Time Athletic Country Club
The biggest addition to the local fitness scene is Life Time's 86,000-square-foot athletic country club, scheduled to open in October 2026. The facility will combine resort-style pools, group fitness studios, pickleball courts, spa services, and social spaces in a single campus. It's designed as a premium, all-in-one fitness and lifestyle destination that blurs the line between gym and country club.
Yoga and Pilates
Several yoga and Pilates studios operate in and around Lakewood Ranch, offering class formats from hot yoga to restorative sessions. Free Sunday morning yoga at Waterside Park — held before the Farmers Market — has become one of the community's signature wellness traditions. Blissful Goat Yoga offers a unique outdoor experience on a five-acre farm nearby, where goats wander freely during class. It's more fun than it sounds.
Country Club Fitness
The Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club includes a 20,000-square-foot fitness center available to members, with equipment, group classes, and personal training. Other country clubs and communities in the area — Rosedale, River Strand, The Concession — offer similar fitness amenities as part of their membership packages. For residents who join a club, the fitness center is included alongside golf, tennis, dining, and pool access.
Outdoor Fitness
The 150-plus miles of trails provide a built-in running, walking, and cycling infrastructure. Waterside Park and Bob Gardner Park both have exercise pods for outdoor bodyweight workouts. The climate supports year-round outdoor activity, though the smart money shifts to early mornings and evenings during the summer months. The new Athletics and Aquatics Center at Premier Sports Campus will add a competition pool and covered pickleball courts by late 2026.
